**Costs & Sponsor:** The US$40,000 for this school was generously funded by Hitachi Energy and their global fundraising campaign from 2025.
**Children:** 100 - 150, from 5 to 15 years old, girls and boys in equal numbers.
**Teachers:** 2 teachers, employed by the Malawi public education board.
**School building:** Reinforced concrete, 140m2, two classrooms.

A team of friends from Hitachi Energy and other supporters attended the groundbreaking ceremony that launched the construction of the Chikwatula School. The school was largely constructed through the hands-on efforts of the local community, managed and supervised by buildOn.

During their visit, the team stayed with local host families, helped with the construction work and met parents, children and teachers. This unforgettable experience gave visitors and locals valuable insights into each other's cultures.
